The glory days, the upheaval and the optimistic future

Our 1st retail customer in New Zealand was Kirkcaldie and Stains (“Kirks”). That was way back in October 2002, when our oils were bottled in 200ml bottles from Italy. If our memories serve us well, those 200ml bottles were described by David Burton as ‘cosmetic bottles’. In our defence, the choice of olive oil bottles was limited back then, our annual production was very small and our cost of production, frightening. Now the retail prices match the wholesales prices of then. They were truly our glory days because we saw the future for New Zealand market moving towards locally produced premium olive oils. Kirks went on to become our retailer of choice on Lambton Quay. Three years later, Moore Wilson became our second Wellington retailer, and our entry into the “foodie” market, ensuring full Wellington coverage.

With the sad departure of Kirks in 2016, we were left with a sizeable gap in the market that Kirks had secured for us. Since then, we have actively sought comparable retail partners to carry our products in this part of Wellington.

Two years on, we are proud to add 2 retail partners in the Thorndon and Lambton Quay retail zones, The French Baker on Waring Taylor Street and now, Thorndon New World on Molesworth Street. To launch our latest retail partnership, we will be instore tasting at Thorndon New World on Thursday 29 March between 2pm and 6pm. We hope we have managed to fill the gap for those loyal Kirks customers to enjoy again.  Watch this space for future tastings with our retail partners.

Auckland customers, we have not forgotten you. Watch this space. We are continuing our search to replace Nosh. In the interim, visit our online shop.
